I've named this piece Higher Education. My inspiration for this piece was Kazimir Malevich. More specifically, I was intrigued by the way he combined some curved lines with mostly straight lines to create geometric art. This is especially apparent in his piece Mystic Suprematism. I chose the name Higher Education because I used mainly geometric structures and techniques to build the vessel. While I was deciding to use geometric principles, it reminded me of taking geometry, which is a required class for high school graduation. I started by rolling out a relatively thick slab (about 1/2") and made a template out of paper to make sure the two side pieces were identical. I also used a combination of space as well as texture to make the piece seem more "mature" and finished looking. I decided not to follow any of the planning drawings I did, but I did create a vessel that can be used for the same purpose that the vessels in the drawings had. Overall, I'm happy with how the vessel turned out. Just like the tile, if I had more time I would smooth the inside out and maybe add some more patterns to enhance the geometric theme.
